Path Tracing vs. Light Tracing

Path Tracing vs. Light Tracing

This poster shows three test scenes rendered with two different techniques. The images of the left column were rendered with path tracing with next event estimation. The ones in the middle column were rendered with light tracing with next event estimation. The right column shows a pixel-wise comparison of the two previous images: a black pixel means that the corresponding pixels in the two previous images are exactly equal. A red or a blue pixel means that at least one color component differs (the red/blue hue indicates the sign of the difference). This comparison helps in detecting systematic bias in the images.
