appleseed 1.1.0 alpha-9 Release Notes
These are the release notes for appleseed 1.1.0 alpha-9. This release also includes Blenderseed 1.1.2.

What's new in this release
appleseed
- Added preliminary support for the new Alembic geometry interchange file format developed by Sony Picture Imageworks and ILM.
- Added support for point lights.
- The thin-lens camera model now supports polygonal apertures (image).
- Added a parameter to enable/disable computing and printing luminance statistics during progressive rendering (now disabled by default).
- Added a parameter to control the number of BSDF samples for direct lighting estimation in the Distributed Ray Tracing engine.
Blenderseed
- Added support for point lights.
What's fixed in this release
appleseed
- Bug: light sources that were visible through reflection on glossy surfaces (e.g. surfaces using the Ashikhmin-Shirley BRDF) would appear too bright.
- Bug: nested BSDF mixtures (using a BSDF mixture as an input to another BSDF mixture) would produce incorrect results.
